Maison du Sage rooms are perfect for visiting the Basilica di Santa Croce in Florence, one of the city’s most beautiful and renowned sites, just a few metres away from the B&B.

Built between 1294 and 1385, the basilica is one of the most splendid Franciscan churches and one of Italy’s most important Gothic, Renaissance and Neogothic-style masterpieces.

The interior offers a rich, majestic variety of precious works of art, such as Gaddi’s frescoes in the Cappella Maggiore, Giotto’s frescoes in the Bardi and Peruzzi Chapels and Donatello’s relief with the Annunciation in golden pietra serena sandstone.

The 78-metre tall bell tower, the crypt, the 16 chapels and the three cloisters give life to one of the city’s most valuable works of art.

Florence’s most significant personalities were buried in this timeless site. Here lay the remains of Michelangelo, Rossini, Machiavelli, as well as of Galileo Galilei.

• Sunday and holidays: 14.00 – 17.30.
